What can I expect from therapy?

First and foremost, I will always create a safe environment for you to share and be heard. This time and space is 100% about you.

What structure for therapy is most effective?

I structure our sessions to best suit your needs. If an issue is more severe in nature, a week between sessions can feel like an eternity; I’d recommend twice-a-week sessions.

You get what you put in. It’s a direct correlation. Inconsistent sessions will produce inconsistent results. Healing lifelong, unhealthy patterns takes time and effort. It’s unrealistic to heal from decades of issues with a few hours of reprocessing.

Note: I’ve found that when clients experience a breakthrough, it’s common they want to pause therapy. They believe they are “cured.” Freedom is found. And this is great, but what’s happening is a new part of self is being given life. Ironically, this breakthrough is the most important moment to continue the process. This new part needs extra support to find and develop itself. In therapy, we’ll continue to check-in and monitor these internal changes.

What kind of therapy do you do?

For individuals, my primary therapeutic model is a combo between Schema Therapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS); I help dialogue a relationship between the true you, your Core Self, and your unconscious, often rejected, blindspots. For couples, I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), which is helping to form a secure attachment (bonding) to you and your partner.

Note: I also offer executive coaching for individuals who need help navigating through specific stuck stages in life (i.e. career, stress management, break up, dating, purpose, etc.). I ask for an open mind ‘to trying new things,’ as congruence in thoughts, emotions, and actions is paramount for success.

Rate?

$200 for a 50-55 minute session. I use the other 5-10 minutes for notes.

For those undergoing financial hardship, I understand. I offer some sliding-scale scholarships at $170 and $145 based on need.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

That’s fine! Please also keep in mind I set aside and reserve your weekly time, as well as limit the number of clients I see to better address your needs. I enforce a 24-hour cancellation policy—unless we can reschedule or there are extenuating circumstances, I will charge for missed appointments.

Therapy is great, but what else can I do?

I’m a 100% believer in a holistic approach to mental health.

Psychotherapy is not a cure-all. I believe our body, mind, and spirit is interconnected. Optimizing diet, sleep, and exercise are three pillars to stay at a decent baseline. I believe yoga, breath-work, cold showers, time in nature, a healthy diet, reducing screen time, connecting to uplifting communities, etc. can be just as beneficial as therapy.

As needed, I support doctor prescribed medication. Research demonstrates the combination of psychotherapy and medication to be the most effective method for reducing many mental illnesses.

How do I pay?

Do you accept insurance?

Cash, credit, or check is preferred. I also accept certain cryptos. Unfortunately, Venmo and Paypal are not HIPPA compliant.

Right now, I am an out-of-network provider and do not accept insurance.

Depending on your insurance plan, I can generate statements for you to get reimbursed. Please check your coverage carefully. Ask your insurance:

  1. Do I have mental health insurance benefits?

  2. How many sessions/yr does my insurance cover?

  3. What is the coverage amount per treatment session for an out-of-network provider?

  4. What is my deductible? Has it been met?

  5. What info is needed to submit for reimbursement (i.e., diagnosis code, service code, provider tax identification, etc.)?

I have a specific issue. Can you help?

I’ve worked with almost every type of mental disorder in a clinical setting. However, there are some mental health professionals who are better equipped for specific issues. Send over an email to see if we’re a good fit. If not, I can help you find a specialist for what you need.

Do you do Telehealth?

Yes—within CA. A few other states permit telehealth, depending on state law (i.e. Colorado).
